What we offer

Due to its unique design FAIM is capable of supporting any type of qualification…

…From schools examinations for 9 year olds through to clinical examinations for surgeons…

The FAIM system has evolved over many years and with each new client, new functionality is added. FAIM has been used to process First Aid certificates and Physicians' examinations, National Vocational Qualifications and Modular A Levels. In 2002 when the DFES sought a database to manage key skills on line tests, FAIM was the choice.

From horticultural examinations for gardeners through to practical examinations for tap dancers, FAIM has proved itself sufficiently flexible to cope, often with only very minor bespoke development, and increasingly with very development little at all.

…with terminology to match the application…

FAIM includes a user specific data dictionary, so if one organisation's ‘student’ is another organisation's ‘Candidate’ a simple one word change to the dictionary (by a local ‘super user') will change all occurrences of the word throughout the system.

Terminology can be user specific and be set up to show qualification-specific terminology – of great use in mixed academic/vocational environments.

…And in any Language

The data dictionary can also be used to create a local language presentation of terminology and being user-specific, one person can see a screen with descriptions in one language while another user can see the same screen in another.

FAIM and the examinations ‘cycle’

FAIM contains functionality to support all the activities in a typical exam cycle.

The following diagram shows a selection of the types of activities that this might encompass (although it should be noted that FAIM allows for much more complex schedules than that illustrated, and can support multiple simultaneous examinations series of similar or differing duration and ‘on demand’ tests).
